How to Make Orange-Honey Glazed Ham With Garlic Parmesan Carrots
Any of Omaha Steaks delicious hams will complement the delectable flavors in this recipe, but my favorite ham for this dish is the Omaha Steaks Duroc Boneless Country Ham. Why? This Duroc ham is slow-smoked for eight hours for the perfect balance of savory, juicy flavor and delectable texture. Plus, Duroc pork is coveted for its marbling, which gives it superior tenderness in each bite.
1. Let’s Create the Glaze
While your ham is bursting with mouthwatering natural flavors, this orange-honey glaze takes the ham to the next-level flavor. The sweetness from the honey, sugar, and brown sugar balanced by the earthy Worcestershire sauce, pungent Dijon mustard, aromatic ground cloves, and cinnamon. To make this glaze, add all the ingredients to a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together, and then boil on medium-high heat. Once the glaze comes to a boil, reduce to medium heat until the glaze has reduced in volume by 1/3, and a syrupy consistency is achieved. Let the glaze cool and come to room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Ham it Up a Notch!
After thawing your Omaha Steaks Duroc Boneless Country Ham in the refrigerator for 26 to 28 hours ahead of time, remove the packaging and place it on a roasting rack in a roaster pan cut-side down while coming to room temperature for one hour. Next, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, add one cup of water to the bottom of the pan, cover with aluminum foil, and place on the center rack of the oven.
Bake your ham for 60 minutes before removing the foil and bake for another 30 minutes uncovered. During this time, glaze the ham with the orange-honey glaze once every 8 minutes. Switch your oven to broil for three to five minutes so the ham gets nice and crisp; watch closely to prevent overbaking. When finished your ham should have an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit according to a meat thermometer and a tasty glaze and lacquer. Allow the ham to rest for 20 minutes and serve with the remaining glaze.
3. Roast Some Carrots You’ll Love
Roasted carrots are a classic side that’s full of flavor with roasted garlic and herbs! Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large pot with salted boiling water, cook the carrots for two minutes. Next, you’ll strain the carrots and place them on a large baking sheet. Toss with olive oil, garlic, rosemary, and salt and pepper. Once fully coated, arrange the carrots in a single layer and roast them in the oven for 10 minutes. Take them out and flip them before baking for another 10 minutes. Then top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and parsley before roasting for two to three minutes or until cheese is fully melted.
Now that the meal is ready, it’s time to grab a plate! First, plate a slice of ham, top with the remainder of the orange-honey glaze, and then place the garlic parmesan carrots on the side. Dig in and enjoy!
