Follow the step-by-step guide below to learn how to bake halibut perfectly every time.
How to Bake Halibut
Baking halibut is one of the easiest methods to achieve perfectly cooked fish, no flipping is required!
1. Thaw Halibut
Before baking your halibut fillets, you can thaw them using one of two methods. To thaw in the refrigerator, remove product from original packaging, place in a resealable bag, and thaw in refrigerator for at least 7 hours. To thaw faster, remove product from original packaging, place in a resealable bag, and submerge bag in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Cook and consume within 2 days.
2. Preheat oven to 400°
Preheat your oven to 400°F while you prepare your halibut.
3. Season Halibut
It’s important to keep in mind that halibut is a very lean fish that is low in fa and can cause dry out easier than other types of fish. To avoid drying out your fish, simply brush each fillet lightly with melted butter or olive oil. This helps to infuse flavor and retain the moisture, ensuring each bite will be as succulent as the last. Season each fillet with your favorite seafood seasoning, or try our Signature Seafood Seasoning.
4. Bake Halibut
Place each fillet on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for a short 12-14 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F and you see they are opaque throughout. Check out our expert seafood cooking chart guide for details on cooking your favorite fish.
