Avoid Omaha Steaks Giveaway Scams: Stay Safe While Shopping

Menu
At Omaha Steaks, the satisfaction and safety of our customers come first, and we would hate to see you get taken advantage of by scammers using the Omaha Steaks name you trust. We work hard every day to combat fraudulent activity, but we want to make sure you know how to protect yourself from online scammers, too, so we put together some tips for you.
Omaha Steaks Stay Smart Stop Scams
How to Avoid an Online Giveaway or Contest Scam

  • Double-check the username. Make sure the username matches the URL in the profile and the channel it’s being posted from. If it doesn’t show OmahaSteaks.com and @OmahaSteaks, it’s not us!
  • Check the post history. We love connecting with our customers on social media and have the posts to prove it! If the account’s post history is short or nonexistent, you’ll know it’s not an Omaha Steaks account.
  • View the “follower” count. Our loyal customers follow us to keep up with the latest contests, giveaways, recipes, tips, events, and more, so don’t trust an account with few or no followers!
  • Examine the URL and logo. If you have to click a link in the post, make sure you’re visiting an official Omaha Steaks site with “HTTPS” in the URL and our company logo.
  • If it’s “too good to be true,” it probably is. We want to share the Omaha Steaks experience with the world by delivering great value and hosting fun giveaways and contests, but you should be wary of unrealistic discounts and freebies.
  • Don’t pay to participate. We would never require you to pay us to participate in a contest or giveaway!
  • Read the post carefully. We have a talented team of writers and proofreaders who keep our brand messaging strong, so if you see a post with a lot of typos, there’s a high chance it’s not us.
  • Confirm valid email addresses. If you do have to contact, or are contacted by, an Omaha Steaks team member, their email address will always end in @OmahaSteaks.com. If the email address ends in something different, that’s not one of our team members!

When you see an Omaha Steaks ad on Facebook or Instagram, look for the blue checkmark to ensure the account has been verified and look at the URL to confirm you are shopping only at OmahaSteaks.com.
