How to Caramelize Onions
Bourbon caramelized onions add unbelievable flavor to this burger. Onions are naturally sweet, and the simple process of caramelization brings out that natural sweetness and enhances your recipe.
To caramelize onions, you will add all the ingredients (see recipe below) to a skillet on medium-high and cook until most of the liquid evaporates and the onions are fully cooked with a slightly brown color. After caramelizing the onions, set aside and prep your burger.
How to Cook Omaha Steaks Burgers

To grill your burgers, place them directly on a pre-heated 450°F grill or use a cast iron skillet on the grill for a crispy sear and natural smoke flavor. We recommend onion Kaiser rolls as a perfect complement to this cheeseburger. Don’t forget to toast the rolls on the grill or broiler to add crunch and grilled flavor to your bread.

- Omaha Steaks Burger
- Sharp cheddar cheese
- BBQ sauce
- Omaha Steaks Fully Cooked Bacon Slices
- Omaha Steaks Seasoning
- Bourbon caramelized onions (see recipe below)
- Onion Kaiser rolls
Bourbon Barbeque Bacon Cheeseburger
Ingredients
- 4 Omaha Steaks Burgers
- 4 onion Kaiser rolls
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 c. barbeque sauce
- 8 slices Omaha Steaks Fully Cooked Bacon
- Bourbon Caramelized Onions recipe below
- Omaha Steaks Seasoning to taste
Bourbon Caramelized Onions:
- 1 T. olive oil
- 1 T. butter
- 1 yellow onion halved and sliced thin
- 1 T. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 shot of Bourbon
Instructions
- Preheat a medium skillet to medium high. Add butter, olive oil, onions, brown sugar, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently until onions begin to brown and caramelize. Add Bourbon and continue to cook until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Season burgers with Omaha Steaks Seasoning or your favorite blend.
- Grill, broil or pan-fry burgers until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Place cheddar cheese on top of burgers to melt.
- Slice buns in half and toast on grill or broiler.
- Place bacon and barbeque sauce on top of cheese.
- Place Bourbon Caramelized Onions on the bottom of the bun then top with the burger. Place remaining half of the bun on top of the burger.
- Serve and enjoy!
