I’m pretty sure you’ve had a Philly cheesesteak and I’m absolutely certain you’ve had a cheeseburger. But have you had a Philly cheeseburger? What’s that, you ask? It’s a cross between two iconic dishes for an incredible gameday appetizer or delicious family meal.
Philly Cheeseburger Sliders
This recipe uses Omaha Steaks ground beef sliders. These 2 oz all-beef patties are made for creativity and give each bite its own unique flavors. To cook the sliders, simply season with salt and pepper and give a nice hard sear in a hot skillet, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Preparing the Mushroom and Onions
Tender caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms are the start of any great cheesesteak. Today, we’re adding them to a juicy, delicious burger for a spin on this Philly favorite. Start by sautéing the sliced onions until slightly caramelized and tender. Then, add sliced baby Portobello mushrooms and cook until tender.
Assembling the Philly Cheeseburger
Add a dollop of the cooked mushrooms and onions to each slider and top with a slice of provolone cheese. Melt the cheese by adding a little water to the pan and covering for about a minute or until cheese is melted. Add the sliders to a toasted bun and top with sriracha mayo and provolone cheese sauce for a delicious Philly cheeseburger. It’s almost too cute to eat. Almost.
