Grilling a juicy, delicious burger doesn’t have to be difficult. With incredible beef patties, the perfect seasoning, and the right tools, you’ll be on your way to becoming a burger grill master. Check out this quick video tutorial on how to grill a juicy, delicious burger. Keep reading for four simple tips to achieve burger-grilling greatness.
4 Tips for Grilling a Perfect Burger
1. Start with the Best Beef
You need to start with the best all-beef patties for the best burger. Omaha Steaks Burgers start with beef that’s naturally aged at least 28+ days and formed into homestyle patties for a juicy, tender texture and incredible flavor. Then the burgers are individually flash-frozen and vacuum sealed for maximum convenience and freshness.

With the perfect gourmet burger, all you need to do is light up the grill. Before cooking, thaw your burgers overnight in the refrigerator or use the quick-thaw method. Place the vacuum-sealed burgers in a bowl of cold water for approximately 30 minutes or until completely thawed.
2. The Perfect Burger Seasoning
The right seasoning brings out the natural flavors in the beef and helps develop a delicious crust on your burger. Use plenty of your favorite seasoning blend and season right before you put the meat on the grill. Pro Tip: If you salt your burgers too early, you risk drying out the beef.
Keep seasoning simple with Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, or try our Omaha Steaks Salt & Pepper Seasoning with a perfect blend of sea salt, cracked black pepper, and a hint of smoke flavor. For a seasoning blend with more complex flavors, we recommend our Omaha Steaks Seasoning with a combination of garlic, onion, and savory spices. Both seasoning blends are excellent on burgers and enhance the meat’s natural flavor.
3. Grilling the Burgers
Now it’s time to get cooking. Before you grill, make sure the grill is clean and pre-heated to medium-high heat. Keep burgers from sticking to a hot grill by oiling your grates using tongs and a rolled-up paper towel dipped in high-smoke point oil. Grill spray works too, but you may get flare-ups.
Place the burgers directly over the heat source on a pre-heated 450°F grill or use a cast iron skillet on the grill for a crispy sear and natural smoke flavor and grill for 3-4 minutes per side.
Don’t flip out and flip your burger too soon! Instead, follow the included cooking charts in every Omaha Steaks box and use a timer to allow 60% of the cooking time before flipping. When juices start to flow, it’s time to flip.
4. Know When the Burger is Done
Overcooking a burger can cause the meat to dry out, so it’s important to know when it is done. The thickness of patties varies, so the most effective way to test doneness is to cook until your meat reaches 160°F as measured by a meat thermometer.
If adding cheese to your patty, add it as soon as the burgers are done and allow to melt. This is also a great time to add butter or mayonnaise to your buns and toast them on the grill for a tasty finish. Once your burger reaches temperature, it’s ready to devour. Add your favorite condiments and toppings, and enjoy!
