How to Make Ground Beef Chili

There are many chili recipes, but this one is the best because it features the best: Omaha Steaks Ultra-Premium Ground Beef. Made from real extra-aged Omaha Steaks and ground by our master butchers, it boasts an 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio to deliver the most flavorful, juiciest ground beef.

1. Beef Up the Chili

Preheat a large saucepot on medium-high heat, then add four tablespoons of olive oil. Next, place the thawed ground beef and dry spices in the pot. Sauté until the ground beef is browned, about six to eight minutes.

Remove the ground beef and add the remaining four tablespoons of olive oil and the vegetables, sautéing for two minutes. Then, add the tomato paste and sauté for 30 seconds before pouring in a dark stout beer and cook for about 90 seconds until reduced to 1/3 volume. Add crushed tomatoes for a zesty flavor, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce for a sweet and sour taste, brown sugar and bring to a boil. Lastly, add the cooked ground beef back to the pot and reduce to a low simmer.

Cook the chili on a low simmer for 60 minutes; if you enjoy beans in your chili, drain and add the optional kidney beans during the last 30 minutes and stir the chili every 15 minutes. Season to taste with salt and ground pepper – and if you want to spice up the chili, add two to four dashes of your favorite hot sauce.

2. Time to Serve!

Now that the chili is ready, it’s time to plate and eat. First, place the chili in a bowl and top it with your choice of cheese, crunchy corn chips, minced green onion, and a dollop of sour cream. Then, finish with slices of avocado and a few more chips.
